Police were dispatched to Lansdale Hospital, where they met with the assault victim who told officers about the injuries she was left with after an altercation with her boyfriend in the evening of March 27, Uppper Gwynedd police said.

She told officers that her boyfriend -- later identified as Jean R. Evans-Saintmarc -- went to her house after they had been arguing on the phone for some time, police said.

She said that she sat on the bottom step of her staircase in the hallway while Evans-Saintmarc was inside her home, police said.

The woman told officers that Evans-Saintmarc continued the hostile conversation they had on the phone, despite her telling him she didn't want to speak to him, police said.

She said this was when he "lost his temper" and punched her on the left side of her face, which caused her to fall backwards, police said.

Evans-Saintmarc then continued to assault her by stomping on her face, to which she started bleeding, police said.

The woman said she covered her face as Evans-Saintmarc ran out of the house and fled in his car, police said.

Evans-Saintmarc was taken into police custody Tuesday and was arraigned before Judge Leonard.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15 at 10:30 a.m.
